Sinical Magazine: When were you born and where? Where are you currently located?
Roswell Ivory: I was born in Aberdeen, Scotland but moved to England when I was quite young so I don’t have the Scots accent. My birthday’s August 26th. I gave up my home and became a full time traveller last August so am currently located in a hostel in Berlin, with wifi and pear cake! Next week, I’ll be somewhere else but I don’t know where yet…
Sinical Magazine: How did you get started in modeling?
Roswell Ivory: I was approached by a talent scout at a festival (Infest, in the UK actually- it seems to be celebrating its last year this year- if you like EBM-type music, I recommend it), and I did my first photoshoot the next day.

Sinical Magazine: What was the first magazine you came across that made you want to become a model? If not a magazine, what inspired you?
Roswell Ivory: I was actually bullied throughout my childhood and teenage years so I spent most of my time avoiding mirrors- the idea that my big nose could front any kind of alternative culture hadn‘t even entered my mind! I’m happily at peace with myself these days and have the cover of two of my favourite magazines this year- Alternative Revolution and… you’ll have to wait until September for the other! I’m continually inspired by my surroundings- fellow models, photographers and designers. Most people I meet are so much more than just their photos- everyone has a story.
Sinical Magazine: What do you think makes a model stand out from others?
Roswell Ivory: A recognisable look, excellent posing skills and a good working relationship with other people in the industry. Oh, and advertise, advertise, advertise!
Sinical Magazine: What are your measurements?
Roswell Ivory: 36-25-36 (in words: BOOBS-waist-BUM).
Sinical Magazine: Clothing wise, what are your fetishes and why?
Roswell Ivory: On me? Harnesses, metal, leather and huge boots- the higher the platforms, the more I love them. In my everyday life, I look as though I’m expecting the apocalypse. Aesthetically, I also love latex (I just don’t like the feel) and ponygirl outfits- there’s something beautiful about the ritual of putting the pieces on- the transformation from girl to fantasy! On someone else? I have a ’thing’ for military outfits…
Sinical Magazine: From a model's perspective, what do you think is the most important aspect of a photo?
Roswell Ivory: I think almost any model will scream “lighting!!” For me, if the lighting is particularly bad, I get ‘bitchy resting face’ (looking mean no matter how neutral my expression is)! If I work with a photographer who has mastered lighting, I will look forward to shooting with them time and time again. Styling too is important- half-hearted styling can ruin a great picture. Good make-up artists are like gold dust and so I tend to work with the same people and have taught myself how to do my own hair and make-up as well. I love experimenting with new looks!
Sinical Magazine: What type of music do you listen to?
Roswell Ivory: It depends on my mood- usually old rock music like AC/DC, Guns n Roses and Thin Lizzy- or grindy techno stuff, but I grew up in the 90s so terrible Europop is a part of my life!
Sinical Magazine: Besides modeling, what else do you like to do for fun?
Roswell Ivory: Anything creative- I’m working on my second book (it’s crime- my first was sci-fi/fantasy) and a series of steampunk short stories. I love to paint, and make my own clothes too. As I want to become a nature writer when my modelling days are over, I’m looking into volunteering abroad at a wildlife sanctuary at the moment, as well as improving my falconry skills- I did a course last year and fell in love with flying!
Sinical Magazine: What's up next for you?
Roswell Ivory: A lot of bondage and vintage lingerie shoots- I’m training in contortion and can’t wait to capture more of my freaky bendiness on camera! I’m also nominated for Europe‘s Best Up and Coming Fetish Model Award which will be announced in November. I’m going to Amsterdam for the event (with crossed fingers) and will return via Germany and Belgium. That’s the plan, anyway.
